Channel 42 is a space broadcasting channel in the Space Channel 5 series. As its name implies, it is the 42nd Channel in the galaxy. Channel 42 is one of the seven known Channels in the era of Space Channel 5. It's also a Channel 1, Channel 5, and Channel 88 frequent concurrent in the race for the scoop.

Currently it focus on being a “Music Company", and has been publishing music for six years as of Part 2. Due to this change, Channel 42 has reportedly gained popularity among the younger audiences. Originally Channel 42 was a small company before they hired Pudding.[1] Since then, they’ve also gained popularity in other genres such as cooking and fashion.[2]

Pudding.

  • Pudding: A former teen idol who works as a reporter and most recently as an actress for Channel 42.
  • Pudding Bodyguards: A group of Pudding's fan from the time she was a teen idol who were hired by Pudding to work as her back-up dancers.
    • Rocka Billy: One of Pudding's Henchmen who is notorious for playing electric guitar.
  • Padding: A performance artist and entertainer that poses as Pudding. Her official relationship to Channel 42 is unknown, though she acts as if she is an employee regardless as part of her commitment to the bit.

  • Unnamed Pudding's report show: Just like Ulala, Pudding also has a report show. However, its name is never revealed. In a short from the Space Channel 5 Moji Moji ☆ Can't Stop Remix CD she introduces her report show as "Purin! Puri Puri Report Show" or "Pudding! Puddi Puddi Report Show" when translated into English. Though, this may simply be a gag created for the short and not the name of her actual report show.
  • Guide to Galactic Fashion Trends 42: A fashion program hosted by Pudding, who guides you to fashionable locations and stores within the galaxy. Since many girls want to be more like her, it’s easy to get why it’s become a daily feature.[2]
  • Big Tremolo Strategy: An instructional beginner guitarist program on how to play Tremolo tunes, where you learn by playing along. Sometimes you can catch old recordings of Pudding's…less than stellar guitar playing. It’s almost unbearable.[2]
  • Unnamed romantic drama series: In Space Channel 5 VR, it is revealed in Pudding's In-Game profile that she recently made her acting debut on a Channel 42 romantic drama.

  • Pudding's Bike: Pudding has a bird-like spaceship with the Channel 42 logo on it. In the first game, the bike is pink colored and the Channel 42 logo is red. From the second game onward, the bike is now green and the Channel 42 logo is yellow. Pudding's Bike has appeared in every game in the series thus far, during reporters where Pudding competes with other reporters in races to get scoops.
  • Pudding's Henchmen Bike: Pudding's Henchmen also have a bird-like spaceship which looks identical to Pudding's, except it is yellow colored. This bike only appeared in the third report from the first game so far.

The only Channel 42 microphone show thus far was Pudding's. It is a small microphone, which looks very similar to Channel 5's microphones, except it is completely pink-colored with the Channel 42 logo on it. In Part 2's Report 5, her microphone is seen having the ability to transform into a guitar, much like Ulala's mic.

Antenna[]

Channel 42's antenna is shown in the sixth report from the second game, being one of the many antennas stolen by Purge to be used for the Ballistic Groove Gun.

Channel 42's Antenna is a green antenna which slightly resembling the one at Channel 5. Channel 42's logo is not seen on it, although its green color implies that it belongs to Channel 42.

Headquarters[]

Much like Channel 1 and Channel 88, the Channel 42 headquarters were never shown in any game. It is also unknown what it looks like or where it is located.

In the cutscene prior Report 4 in Space Channel 5: Part 2, it is shown a picture of Pudding being attacked by the Rhythm Rogues in the Channel 42. However, the picture only displays Pudding being attacked and nothing of the station is shown.
