Channel 88 is well known for its production of the newest technology.[1] Notably, created a robot reporter, 88Man, installed with a super AI. Although they don't have a large workforce, they're still a big hit in the Space Broadcasting industry.

About[]

Employees[]

88Man

88MAN.

  • 88MAN: The main Channel 88 reporter. 88MAN is a very advanced robot reporter who can handle any environment. According to the Gyun Gyun Guide Book, 88MAN is only 2 years old.
  • Channel 88 Cameraman: 88MAN's cameraman, working directly under him. Seen during Peace's interview.

The fact that 88MAN's profile states that he is a "Channel 88 robot reporter" may imply that other Channel 88 reporters (if there is more than one) aren't robots. But the rest of the Channel's staff remains unseen in the series.

Series and Shows[]

  • Unnamed 88MAN's report show: Just like Ulala, 88MAN also has a report show. However, its name is never revealed.
  • Exploring the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy: A show hosted by 88Man where he presumably explores many places not suitable for humans.[1]

Vehicles[]

88MAN's Spacecraft

88MAN'S spacecraft as seen in Space Channel 5: Part 2.

  • 88MAN's Spacecraft: 88MAN pilots a spacecraft resembling an 8 turned on its side. The 8 is pink in color and the outside of it is lined with blue. Near the front of the vehicle are two foot pedals, which 88MAN uses to power the spacecraft. The spacecraft has appeared in every game in the series thus far, during reporters where 88MAN competes with other reporters in races to get scoops. It is said to be extremely sturdy, super agile, and easy to use.[1] Its efficiency can’t be replicate.

Microphones[]

The only Channel 88 microphone show thus far was 88MAN's. A big microphone with a pink handle and a white head. This microphone is currently the biggest microphone in the Space Channel 5 series.

Antenna[]

Channel 88 Antenna

Channel 88's Antenna in the Ballistic Groove Gun.

Channel 88's antenna is shown in the sixth report from the second game, being one of the many antennas stolen by Purge to be used for the Ballistic Groove Gun.

Channel 88's antenna is shaped just like 88MAN's head, with the antenna in the center of the "88", but is not known if the reporter was designed after the antenna or vice versa. It is a pink and peach antenna, and no logo is seen because of its shape.

Headquarters[]

Much like Channel 1 and Channel 42, the Channel 88 headquarters were never shown in any game. It is also unknown what it looks like or where it is located.

The only picture of Channel 88.

In the cutscene prior Report 4 in Space Channel 5: Part 2, it is shown a picture of 88MAN being attacked by the Rhythm Rogues in the Channel 88. However, the picture only displays 88MAN being attacked and nothing of the station is shown.

The game doesn't state if Channel 88 studios was destroyed by the Rhythm Rogues like Channel 5 HQ after its antenna was stolen, but its main reporter's "wounds" assume that "brutal force" had been used.

88MAN's costume in the Changing Room states that an unknown incident occurred in the Channel 88 studios. Ulala used this costume to investigate, disguising herself as the Channel's main reporter. What exactly happened in the station is never told in-game.

Due to its main reporter being an advanced robot with the latest AI, Channel 88 can be considered as the most advanced Channel in term of technology, as they use this robotic being as their main reporter.
