Pon Piriri appears at the end of second report, Nature's Revenge, where he is keeping President Peace as a hostage.

The battle starts with him in his terrifying "Plant Mode", where he will throw seed bombs at Ulala, who must repeat his commands to shoot at them and protect herself. As the battle goes on, Ulala will try to come closer to the President. After a while, Pon Piriri will throw star-flowers at Ulala and she will need to dodge them. Eventually, Pon Piriri will trap Ulala with his vines and she will need to repeat his commands to dodge and shoot at his root.

After getting enough damage, he will release Ulala and dropping out of it’s protective covering. Pon Piriri switches to his second mode, the adorable “Robot Mode”. Shadow shows up as the mecha’s true form is revealed and a waltz battle begins. To defeat Pon Piriri, Ulala will need to copy his moves.

After Ulala succeeding, Pon Piriri will turn off. Shadow will mysteriously disappear and President Peace will be freed. Peace's song revives Pon Piriri, who is now on the heroes side and celebrates with them.

Pon Piriri later appears again at the end of the game, marching to the end of the Galaxy.

Space Channel 5: Part 2 (Japanese)[]

Pon Piriri (Robot mode)[]

Profile Number 106
"He's pretty shy for a boss. He's at his happiest bundled up in something. He unintentionally shows off his award winning smile during Peace's song; he must have thought to himself, "Oh no!" when that happened. He's a master of three-beat dances."

Trivia[]

  • Pon Piriri is named after the song "Tom Pillibi."[1]
  • Some pieces of the music that plays during the fight against Pon Piriri in his robot mode are remixes of "The Blue Danube", a classic waltz music composed by Johann Strauss II.
  • Pon Piriri is similar to Morolina from the first game. They are classical/waltz themed and part of their battles involves them trapping Ulala physically. In Morolina's case being trapping Ulala with her tongue and Pon Piriri's, trapping Ulala with his tentacles. They are also the second bosses from their respective games.
  • When Ulala is trapped by Pon Piriri's tentacles, her propulsion canisters will turn on. This will happen even if Ulala is wearing a costume provided the costume has a propulsion canister or jet. This, along side the first part of Report 4, are the only ways to see certain characters—such as Pudding, Pine, Space Michael, and Jaguar—with their propulsion canisters on.
  • Pon Piriri's digital face color changes, indicating his emotion/mood:
    • Blue: Idle
    • Red: Angry
    • Yellow: Happy
  • Pon Piriri's battle, is the only one in the series where none of the rescued hostages behind Ulala mimic her dancing.
  • In Japanese, he uses the pronoun "boku" to talk about himself.
