Tension Blasters are dance-related weapons used by several characters during shooting sequences in the Space Channel 5 series.

With the help of the Chu or Hey Beam, Tension Blasters can shoot down enemies and obstacles or rescue hostages, respectively.

List of Space Guns and Their Users[]

Ulala's Guns[]

Ulala is seen using two guns during Shooting Mode. They consist of a blue hair dryer-like gun, with an antenna shaped cannon and the Channel 5 logo on them. One of Ulala's Tension Blaster can be seen attached to her right leg. The other is actually her microphone transformed into a second Tension Blaster.[1]

When fired, the Chu Beam emits a green ray. In the first game, the ray is composed of several aligned, green, triangular lights. However, in the sequel, the beam is composed of one green blast.

When the Hey Beam is fired, it shoots out pink hearts.

Jaguar's Guns[]

Jaguar has white guns that shoot orange J-shaped lights. These guns are very large, the largest of any seen in the game.

Morolians' Guns[]

The Morolians use guns during their invasion in Space Channel 5. These guns are green, with a yellow orb on the tip.

In Space Channel 5 VR, the Morolians use the same blaster as they did in Space Channel 5. However, when playing Miku's Far-Out Report Show, the Morolians will wield leaks instead. Despite their new shape, they still function as normal.

Roo and Kie's Weapons[]

While Roo and Kie do not use traditional gun shaped Tension Blasters, they are able to fire tension blasts by using gauntlets on their wrists or by using the Channel 5 microphone. The appearance of their tension blasts is highly dependable on the situation.

For most circumstances, their tension blasts are pink diamond-shaped lights. When firing at members of the Jaguar Squad, their tension blasts are still pink diamond-shaped lights; however, they now leave a shower of pink flowers—similar in shape to their hair pins—around the members after the blasts connect. When rescuing the other reporters in Report 4, their tension blasts appear as the Channel 5 logo. When rescuing Ulala in the same report, they appear as pink hearts. When playing Miku's Far-Out Report Show, their tension blasts are teal diamond-shaped lights mixed with a trail of pink hollow squares. These blasts will leave pink hollow squares floating around the Morolians for a short time after the blasts connect.

Other Characters[]

In Space Channel 5, Pudding's does not have any visible guns; however, she does fire a unique tension blast, that being a large blue orb.

Members of the Jaguar Squad use Tension Blasters. In Space Channel 5 they are white and shoot blue J-shaped lights; however, in Space Channel 5 VR the blasters are striped black and white, and shoot yellow J-shaped lights.

Pudding, Pine, and Space Michael also wield Tension Blasters. They are only used in Report 5 of Part 2. They are identical in design to Ulala's, except for their color. Pudding's are green, Pine's are red, and Space Michael's are silver. Naturally, Padding and Texas wield the same ones as their counterparts during this section.

Bello and Soon-soon also have tension blasters. Bello has two pink ones strapped to her thighs and Soon-soon has a blue one featuring the Space Pirate's logo strapped to her right thigh. It is unknown what their tension blasts look like as they never use their guns in combat.
