Begin the 100-stage battle!

Ulala's Dance Mode, also known as The 100 Stage Dance Battle and Ulala's Dancing Show, is a mini game in Space Channel 5: Part 2 where the player must reach 200% views without missing a single move.

In Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! contains a similar mini game called the Trial Dance.

About[]

Ulala's Dance Mode plays as normal, but as stated above, the player must go through 100 stages with missing a single command, or else it's game over. After completing all 100 stages, the game will go on for an additional 100 stages. These stages are near identical to the first 100 stages aside from some moves changes, opponents changes, an increase in difficulty.

The stages are divided into 10 levels, which are indicated their titles. These stages typically have differing opponents. The opponents vary from Morolians, to Rhythm Rogue robots, to Ordinary Folks, and to multiple Ulalas wearing different outfits. After defeating them, they'll join the player as back-up dancers.

Ulala Dance Mode (Morolian outfit)

Playing the mode with the Morolian outfit makes different opponents appear.

Completing certain levels will unlock various outfits and character costumes for Ulala. For instance, defeating Ulala in the School Uniform will unlock that outfit for the player. There are unique opponents and unlockable outfits that will only appear by wearing the Morolian outfit, which is unlocked by clearing Report 6. Additionally, when playing with the Morolian outfit, Ulala will dance like a Morolian.

As the mode goes on, the "Chu" and "Hey" commands are also replaced by new commands; they are "Woof", "Meow" and "Toyota" for the "Chu" and "Honda" for the "Hey". Much of the levels reuse the timings of various dance battles from Space Channel 5..

There is also a co-op version of Ulala's Dance Mode, where one player does the four directions while the other does the "Chu" and "Hey" commands. The Peach Suit, is unlocked through this mode.

Level 00[]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 7% views (107% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make Cred appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Silver Walker appear and beating the latter will unlock the Silver Walker costume. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appear if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit, Sexy 1 appears. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolians that hold Yaz Malloy and Brenda Boggs hostage in Part 1's Report 1.

Lv. 10 Groove[]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 14% views (114% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make Gromb appears. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a BuffBot appear and beating the latter will unlock the BuffBot costume. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit, Sexy 2 appears. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolians that hold the Space Tourists hostage in Part 1's Report 1.

Lv. 4 Groove[]

At this point the "Chu" command is changed to "Woof."

The opponent is defeated by reaching 24% views (124% in the bonus round). Playing it without the Morolian suit will make Ulala wearing a School Uniform appear and beating her will unlock the School Uniform costume. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. The suit makes 88MAN appear. It is based off the dance battle against Pudding in Part 1's Report 1.

Lv. 1 Groove[]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 34% views (134% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make Blib appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Space Synchronized Swimmer appear and beating her will unlock the Space Synchronized Swimmer outfit. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. The suit makes Shinichiro Tachibana appear. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolians that hold E. Arthur Scholz and Hunk Smith hostage in Part 1's Report 2.

Groovemaster 2000[]

At this point the "Woof" command is changed to "Meow."

The opponent is defeated by reaching 45% views (145% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make Yaroo appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear.In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit, Morolian Eight appears. It is based off the dance battle against Jaguar from Part 1's Report 2.

Filthy Groove[]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 53% views (153% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make a tanned Ulala appear and beating her will unlock the Coconut outfit. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. The suit makes one of Pudding's Henchmen appear. Playing in the Co-op mode will make Ulala wearing the Peach Suit appear, and beating her will unlock the suit. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolian Leaders that hold Pudding hostage in Part 1's Report 3.

Groove Guru[]

At this point the "Meow" command is changed to "Toyota."

The opponent is defeated by reaching 63% views (163% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make Proonk appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit makes Space Primary Schooler Blue appear. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolians that hold Space Michael hostage in Part 1's Report 4.

Straight Up Filthy Groove Guru[]

At this point the "Hey" command is changed to "Honda."

The opponent is defeated by reaching 78% views (178% in the bonus round). Playing the mode without the Morolian suit will make a Morolian Leader appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit makes a Rescue Police trooper appear.

Sweet![]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 90% views (190% in the bonus round). Playing it without the Morolian suit will make Hoorg appear. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make a Black Walker appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. The suit makes Cecil Aroma appear. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolian Leaders that hold Ambrosia DiFlibula hostage in Part 1's Report 4.

Perfect![]

The opponent is defeated by reaching 100% views (200% in the bonus round). Playing it without the Morolian suit will make Ulala wearing her China Dress outfit appear and beating her will unlock the China Dress outfit. Playing it with the Morolian suit will make Purge (Cloaked outfit) appear. In the bonus round, a Black Walker appears if playing it without the Morolian suit. With the suit makes Chief Blank appear. It is based off the dance battle against the Morolians that hold a Rescue Police trooper hostage in Part 1's Report 2 (extra mode).

Trivia[]

  • The textures used in the background of the 100 Stage Dance Battle are reused from Blank Dimension.
  • Morolian Eight and all of male human and humanoid characters in the mode reuse Purge's dance animations.
  • Ulala in her School Uniform outfit, Ulala with her Coconut outfit, Ulala in her Peach outfit and the Space Synchronized Swimmer reuse Ulala's regular dance animations.
  • Ulala in her China Dress outfit, Sexy 1 and Sexy 2 reuse Super Ulala's dance animations.
  • Perfect! and Groove Guru (from the second round) are the only two stages where all six commands are used.
  • Plurp and Morolian Cameraman were the only Morolians who didn't appear as enemies in this mode.
  • The Japanese and English versions use different numbers in the titles for the second and fourth levels. In Japanese, the two levels are labeled "Lv. 5 Groove (踊り5級)" and "Lv. 8 Groove (踊り8段)" respectively.
